Apple's Soundtrack made its debut last June, as part of the massive video-editing bundle Final Cut Pro 4. But now the same Soundtrack software is available as a stand-alone product. This puts Soundtrack within reach of video editors, Web designers, and content providers who don't need the rest of the Final Cut Pro 4 package. Soundtrack 1.0.1 is a fun program based on sound loops. It lets you quickly create original, royalty-free music for video and multimedia projects. It requires at least a 500MHz Power Mac, Mac OS X 10.2.5, and 5GB of available hard-drive space. Apple's official specs say that you can install the program with a CD and that the sound loops, called Apple Loops, on the included DVD are optional, but this isn't really the case. Soundtrack's entire appeal lies in the fact that it lets you mix and match the 4GB of material it provides.

The other 475 are mostly feral rabbits, or pets that have gone wild and probably can't be tamed again. Reno 911 The feral bunnies arrived two years ago from a shelter in Reno, Nevada, after the owner got sick and was hospitalized. People continued to drop off unwanted rabbits. But the pets weren't sterilized and eventually, there were 1600 rabbits in the woman's backyard! They had all gone feral and most were sick. "Two bunnies can produce about 100 rabbits a year," said Celeste. "She tried to take care of them but it was just overwhelming." Great Lakes agreed to take about 500 of the feral bunnies in exchange for help building a hospital and buying food, medicine and other supplies. "I believe wholeheartedly we're doing the right thing," said Tim Patino, president of the nonprofit Michigan sanctuary.
Google Sites - spoiled by usability issues
As I pen this, the fanfare around JotSpot Revista aka Google Sites is just getting underway. I'm not impressed. In fact I'm deeply disappointed. To call this - as noted by Dan Farber: "This is a key last hole in the Google Apps suite," Matt Glotzbach, product management director for Google Enterprise told me. "It is the nucleus for other pieces to fit into for online collaboration." …is absolutely spot on. Hole - a black hole to which chunks of this should be consigned until they're fixed. Rafe Needham took a look and says that: I spent a little time with it and found it to be a very strong wiki. The service's editor is simple and clean, and there's no whiff of the weird Wikitext markup code you see on earlier-generation wikis. While that's both welcome and true, it is hardly unique.

The book opens in New York and, for the first time, Carey has written a novel that includes American main characters. Most surprisingly, his narrator has a finite knowledge of Australia. Set in the late 1960s and early 1970s, His Illegal Self explores life in privileged Manhattan and in subversive, underground America. It also takes in Australia at a time, Carey writes, when "Queensland was a police state run by men who never finished high school".
Underwood defense attempts to save his life
The jury convicted him Friday for the 2006 murder of Jamie Rose Bolin. The jury now must decide whether to give Underwood life in prison with parole, without parole or death. Wayne Woodyard, one of Underwoods court-appointed attorneys, said the defense would focus on Underwoods shyness, depression and the frustration he encountered as a boy. No one will come forward to tell you he is insane, Woodyard said. Assistant District Attorney Susan Caswell said the states opening statements that Underwood deserved the death penalty because it is the only appropriate and just punishment for the murder of Jamie Bolin. She added all the evidence from the first half of the trial, including Underwoods graphic videotaped confession after his arrest, could be used in the jurys decision.

They ask how we can speak of free elections when the Saigon press is censored and controlled by the military junta. And they are surely right to wonder what kind of new government we plan to help form without them, the only party in real touch with the peasants. They question our political goals and they deny the reality of a peace settlement from which they will be excluded. Their questions are frighteningly relevant. Here is the true meaning and value of compassion and non-violence, when it helps us to see the enemy's point of view, to hear his questions, to know of his assessment of ourselves. For from his view we may indeed see the basic weaknesses of our own condition, and if we are mature, we may learn and grow and profit from the wisdom of the brothers who are called the opposition.
