Hospira jumps on results, 2008 forecast

(AP) — Shares of medication delivery company Hospira Inc. rose sharply Thursday after the company forecast 2008 earnings and revenue in line with Wall Street estimates.

Hospira's stock jumped $2.81, or 7 percent, to $42.71. Over the past year, the stock has ranged between $36.88 and $44.64.

The company projected adjusted earnings per share for 2008 of $2.45 to $2.55, excluding acquistion-related charges and other items.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial, on average, estimate earnings of $2.47 per share. You May Also Like .

The title character, elegantly embodied by George Clooney, is something of a spiritual brother to Matt Damon's tormented amnesiac spy. Michael Clayton is a Jason Bourne who, unlucky for him, actually does remember all the terrible things he's done. Michael is the fixer for a top-drawer New York legal firm, a former public prosecutor who resides somewhere in the shadowy space between attorney and bagman. In essence, he's paid to protect wealthy fuckups from publicity, and from their own consciences. As the movie opens—the first 20 minutes are slow but dense, packed with details that become important later—Clayton is heading upstate to provide counsel to a well-heeled hit-and-run driver.

So I too would like to know were in the heck the city trucks were at, because they sure weren't out salting the roads.

Winds Gather as Winter Storm Bears Down

Another Pacific weather system Saturday will bring rain to the valley, strong winds, and snow to the Sierra, where a winter storm warning has been issued.

A high wind advisory was posted for the Sacramento Valley, delta and foothills areas from 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon through 1 p.m. Sunday with sustained winds 20-35 mph and gusts up to 70 mph Saturday night through early Sunday.

A high wind warning was in effect for parts of the northern Sacramento Valley from Marysville to Redding, where wind speeds could reach 60 mph.

"We will see outages this weekend," said Pacific Gas and Electric spokeswoman Jennifer Ramp. "We are prepared, we've got all available crews ready and as soon as the wind hits (Saturday) afternoon they'll be dispatched."

Up to 2 inches of rain was expected to fall over the valley and delta areas this weekend with as much as 4 inches forecasted in the foothills, News10's Patty Souza said.
